PS-7 electronic diagnostic stethoscope is a modern diagnostic tool used for determining the technical condition of car components among others by means of the acoustic method; it does not require dismantling. It consists of the integrated sensor fed with a typical 9 V battery (6F22) and high-quality headphones. Every expert, who makes use of it, is able to assess the condition of the engine, gearbox, rear axle, steering system, suspension, shock absorbers, etc. the PS-7 stethoscope operates in the same way as a traditional stethoscope, except that it is an electronic device, which makes it possible to adjust its sensitivity to each and every situation. The acoustic signal is processed, which as a result makes it possible to listen without any external interference. While listening, touch directly the place you are interested in with the stethoscope ending. Then the sound wave passes to the transmitter, next it is properly processed and goes into the ear via headphones. The device design makes it possible to record with a tape recorder or a voice recorder (with a microphone input) the sound effect accompanying a particular defect. The PS-7 stethoscope is also compatible with an oscilloscope. Each part of the machinery or equipment that is on the run generates a kind of the acoustic (sound) wave. The main parameters characteristic of this wave can be used by us to determine the technical condition of two or more parts of the vehicle or a machine that work together. We quite often deal with unidentified tapping, murmurs and other sounds which come from the engine or another unit. The tapping coming from inside of the engine may have different causes. The correct identification of possible causes of the clatter, without additional equipment ("by ear"), requires a very high expertise supported by many years of practice. It often happens that even a very good professional cannot identify the cause of clatter without dismantling the engine. In this situation the application of the PS-7 stethoscope saves a lot of effort and time.
